On Thursday, while looking wistfully back at Obama’s first four years, NBC News accidentally did some actual reporting. In a First Read article that opened with the question, “Is the nation better off than it was four years ago,” senior political director, Mark Murray, did something that neither he, nor NBC News, nor the mainstream media was willing to do during this last presidential campaign: report on Obama’s record.
The press is melting; circulation and ads sales at most legacy outlets are steadily falling, and the public trusts the product less and ignores it more. In a recent Gallup poll a record 60 percent of respondents replied “not very much” or “not at all” when asked how much they trusted the news media to tell the truth fully and fairly.
Wednesday was Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, and Americans flocked to the fast food restaurant in response to criticism of COO Dan Cathy’s opposition to same-sex marriage (as well as threats from the mayors of some major cities). The photos of long lines and traffic jams reveal the extent of the restaurant’s support–for some it’s about traditional values and for others it’s about freedom of religious exercise and speech in the face of government intimidation. There are even rumors that Chick-fil-A set a new world record for sales in a single day, though the company has yet to release any sales numbers.
Twitter claimed last night that the tweet breached its guidelines.
“Your account has been suspended for posting an individual’s private information such as private email address, physical address, telephone number, or financial documents,” the company informed Mr Adams. “It is a violation of the Twitter Rules.”
In response, Mr Adams wrote: “I didn’t publish a private email address, just a corporate one, which is widely available to anyone with access to Google and is identical to one that all of the tens of thousands of NBC Universal employees share. It’s no more ‘private’ than the address I’m emailing you from right now.
First of all, nobody is talking about lowering the tax rates. They are talking about whether or not to continue the existing tax rates, which are set to expire after a temporary extension. And Obama is talking about raising the tax rate on higher-income earners.
But when Ms. Borger asked “where are you going to get the money from” if you don’t raise tax rates, she was assuming an automatic correlation between tax rates and tax revenues, which is demonstrably false.
“The problem with racism is Matt Drudge,” Maher said. “I pick from Matt Drudge’s website — just this, over a month we monitored this. Just show some of the pictures that were on — there, Mike Tyson looking like he’s going to eat your head. Oh yes, Louis Farrakhan — because he’s so relevant now. Oh, and Marion Barry, he’s in the news also. Oh yes, Rev. Wright, because he matters to your life so much. This is who appears on the Drudge Report. Oh yes, and there’s Al Sharpton telling Eric Holder what he should do, and Michael Jordan angry, because that’s how we all remember him. This is racism in America.”
While Maher mocked the images, he neglected to provide context for the stories Drudge attached to the pictures — nor did Maher explain why he went all the way back to the month of April for his examples.
Bill Maher was seated next
to a little girl on an airplane, turned to her and said, “Do you want to
talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow
The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied “What would
you want to talk about?”
” Oh, I don’t know,” said Maher “How about why there is no GOD,
or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?” as he smiled smugly.
“OK,” she said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me
ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -
grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns
out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that
Maher, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence, thinks about it and
says, “Hmmm, I have no idea..”
To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss
why there is no GOD, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death, when you
don’t know crap?”
And then she went back to reading…
Liberals have a problem with logic, facts, and making rational choices. Bill wasn’t able to draw a clear line between images and racism on Drudge, so he just went ahead and made the accusation using his own brand of logic–I like to call it sophistry.
A man walking home from work was attacked and beaten by a large group of people on the Gold Coast late Sunday, police said.
The 36-year-old man suffered a laceration above his right eye and bruising to his head and body during the attack at 10 p.m. in the 800 block of North Dewitt Place, police said, citing early reports.
The group of attackers was comprised of between 15 and 20 males and females, police said. Preliminary police reports indicated that they may have been teenagers.
Police are listing the attack as a battery and there is no indication that the man was robbed, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Robert Perez. The attackers did not appear to say anything to the man to indicate why he was targeted, Perez said.
“It was without provocation, they just attacked,” Perez said.
The man was taken to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police had no other details.
Several youths were charged Sunday following an attack Saturday night that left a man with a broken jaw.
I read this story because a friend sent it to me via email. It’s another example of why a canceled my Tribune subscription and gave up consumption of mass media. Thank God for the internet and all the other reliable sources that tell it like it is rather than this 1984 Orwellian garbage. If you watch the video, Channel 9 interviews a clueless student and never mentions the race of the attackers. Other attacks have occurred in the area, but, according to Channel 9, those incidents are not related. Well, if you don’t count race, then I guess they aren’t. Now go enjoy downtown Chicago, but please be aware of your surroundings and watch out for, well, young people!
Chicago police have released surveillance photos of a group of teenagers who they say attacked a man after stealing his wife’s iPhone on the Red Line subway downtown over the weekend.
The couple were on a train near State and Lake streets about 10:20 p.m. Saturday when the woman dropped her iPhone and one of the teens picked it up, police said.
The husband told the teen to give it back and the group attacked him, pushing him to the ground and punching and kicking him, police said.
In an alert releasing the photos, police did not say how many teenagers were involved, but photos show at least half a dozen teens. Police did not release detailed descriptions of any of the teens, but said one of them was a girl or woman and the rest were men or boys.
The attackers fled the train at the State-Lake stop. The surveillance photos show the attackers at both the platform and turnstile levels of the subway station.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment following the attack, but police did have any detailed information about his injuries.
Anyone with information was asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.

When Barack Obama asserted – in advance of a jury trial or grand jury investigation, let alone a completed police investigation – that he identified with young Trayvon Martin, the black teenager shot and killed in Florida, it was an extraordinarily reactionary moment with possible ramifications of interference with the justice system.
But it was not surprising.
Since obtaining the presidency, Barack Obama has led a Democratic Party that would be better called The Society for the Preservation of Racism.
Obama has benefited from the specter of racism and would have never climbed so high had he not been at least half black. He’s the first affirmative action president and you can’t blame him for promoting racism. Perpetuating a skewed reality of race relations and discrimination against minorities will allow charlatans like Obama to advance without requiring him to demonstrate any real effort or talent. So we’re stuck with this empty suit till the end of 2012. Will the nation have enough since to give this goof his walking papers?
Soledad O’Brien demonstrated one of the most egregious and embarrassing cases of media bias I’ve ever seen this morning after arguing with Harvard Law grad Joel Pollack about race at Harvard and Critical Race Theory. O’Brien got so over her head, she leaned upon a panelist who reverted to race card as his argument.
Check out the video here. Soledad is really irritating.
School officials are reeling after students chanted “U.S.A” while cheering the victory of their home team consisting a male Caucasians. ”It was like I was back in 1950 Alabama,” sobbed Jose Jimenez through a translator.
The opposing team consisted of darker people who believed the lighter team demonstrated an utter lack of “white guilt” by demonstrating pride in their nation and failing to under perform so that the less talented team consisting of mostly racial minorities wouldn’t suffer any loss of self-esteem. ”How could those white boys be so insensitive to Spanish-speaking kids waving the Mexican flag?” asked Greta Mossburg who teaches multicultural agendas at the local junior college.
Joan Espinoza of the ACLU reviewed video of the incident. ”I must say that damn First Amendment gets in the way of a nice juicy law suit every time. We were hoping to have charges brought up, but hate crime legislation hasn’t been written to cover hurt feelings of poor performing minorities beaten at a sporting event. Nevertheless, there may be hope down the road.”
“Those white boys just didn’t live up to the stereotype we’re used to,” ranted Maria Flan Pastel. ”They basically spat in the face of everyone who treasures equal outcomes and affirmative action. I wonder if Eric Holder will get the Justice Department to investigate. There has to be a civil rights violation somewhere.”
As expected, school officials prostrated themselves under pressure from minority pressure groups and vowed to enroll the offending students in white guilt classes. ”It’s a dangerous thing when you have Caucasians excelling and asserting themselves in front of minorities. We’ll develop curriculum designed to take as much wind out of their sails as possible so a healthy mediocrity can exist,” gushed Eduardo Martinez, a bilingual curriculum coordinator for minorities who refuse to learn the English language.
Miguel Espinoza who labeled himself a proud Mexican gave a heart-felt summary of the events that sparked so much controversy. ”Those fu*%ing gringos knocked the snot out of us. I’d like to see those as@ holes on the soccer field.”
A local school district is apologizing after an apparent incident of racism at a boys high school basketball game this past weekend.
When the final whistle blew Saturday, Alamo Heights celebrated a convincing victory over San Antonio Edison.
Alamo Heights Head Coach Andrew Brewer said he was proud of his team.
