Suicide is the cause of more deaths than car crashes, according to an alarming new study.
The number of people who commit suicide in the U.S. has drastically increased while deaths from car accidents have dropped, making suicide the leading cause of injury death.
Suicides via falls or poisoning have risen significantly and experts fear that there could be many more unaccounted for, particularly in cases of overdose.
Sure, spend tax money to address a symptom of government overreach by creating more government overreach. The suicide rate is up because the economy is in the tank. It’s in the tank because of government policy. More government means less freedom. Less freedom mean less opportunity, less innovation, less investment, and more stagnation. More suicides would be prevented with policies that grow and enhance the U.S. economy than any government suicide prevention program. More lives would be saved if government got out of the business of creating a dependent constituency. That would require giving up some “power.” That’s not going to happen.
