After a prank pulled by Banksy got a homeless man kicked out of his longtime home in a Los Angeles water tank, the secretive British street artist made amends by giving the man enough money to live for a full year.
The trouble began after Banksy turned Tachowa Covington’s makeshift Pacific Coast Highway home into a piece of art by spray painting along the side of the bus-sized tank ‘This looks a bit like an elephant’ and it only got worse when collectors who covet the elusive artist’s work bought Covington’s squat to sell to collectors.
Neighborhood liberals were outraged that a local homeless man, and black to boot, had the gall to forego government subsides and save taxpayer money by outfitting a unused water tank as an apartment. “The arrogance of these misfits knows no bounds,” chided William Randers who personally took great pleasure in learning that Tachowa was getting the boot. He reminisced about beauty of the landscape and quipped, “People like that need to know their place and it is governments job to keep them in it.”
Under the condition of anonymity, one H.U.D. official observed that creatures like Tachowa were a threat to governmental hegemony. “Where does a guy like this get off on living independently and establishing a somewhat luxurious abode without taking some of our tax money? Such audacity needs to be dialed back lest others start getting some fancy notion about taking their lips off the government tit, living independent lives, and, God help us, voting Republican!”
The Obama administration congratulated Bansky during a secret ceremony at the White House for his work in getting Tachowa back to milking the public tit. The president reading off a teleprompter addressed Bansky and a small contingent of liberal technocrats,”It isn’t often when an artist’s ploy of charity mimics my greater designs on this nation. Bansky’s efforts could almost be labeled as brilliant had he used someone else’s money to ply Tachowa after he uprooted him from his humble abode. The genius lies in charity with money that is not your own. Think stimulus my minions! Ponder schemes that extract the earned wealth from the doers and sprinkle it on layabouts. They’ll always reward us with their vote. Just be ever vigilant of the Tachowas who attempt to break free from our grip; a little independence can be a dangerous thing!”
Tachowa now lives in a H.U.D. container project. He laments the loss of his water tank apartment with its smooth design and pleasant view. “Well, nothing good lasts forever. Now I live in an ugly box at the taxpayer expense,” said the once happy squatter.
Could the aforementioned bile merit an I.R.S. audit of the swine?
Perhaps these words ring a bell for Americans watching their federal government in Washington: Over-spending, lack of jobs, no fiscal restraint, chronically high unemployment, bloated entitlements, inept politicians, corruption, ineffective governing, missing political courage. Figuring someone else will handle the debt down the road.
I just love the fact that Democrats take my tax money and use it to buy votes. I guess I can’t really blame them since it seems to be working rather well for them. I’m just curious to know what happens when the money fountain runs dry?
The Mexican government has been working with the United States Department of Agriculture to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps.
USDA has an agreement with Mexico to promote American food assistance programs, including food stamps, among Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America.
“USDA and the government of Mexico have entered into a partnership to help educate eligible Mexican nationals living in the United States about available nutrition assistance,” the USDA explains in a brief paragraph on their “Reaching Low-Income Hispanics With Nutrition Assistance” web page. “Mexico will help disseminate this information through its embassy and network of approximately 50 consular offices.”
The partnership — which was signed by former USDA Secretary Ann M. Veneman and Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista in 2004 — sees to it that the Mexican Embassy and Mexican consulates in America provide USDA nutrition assistance program information to Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals working in America and migrant communities in America. The information is specifically focused on eligibility criteria and access.
Barry has a special way of crushing individual dignity by promoting dependency through welfare programs. Let’s see how it works for him in November.
Border Patrol agents in Arizona are blasting their bosses for telling them, along with all other Department of Homeland Security employees, to run and hide if they encounter an “active shooter.”Its one thing to tell civilian employees to cower under a desk if a gunman starts spraying fire in a confined area, say members of Tucson Local 2544/National Border Patrol Council, but to give armed law enforcement professionals the same advice is downright insulting. The instructions from DHS come in the form of pamphlets and a mandatory computer tutorial.“We are now taught in an ‘Active Shooter’ course that if we encounter a shooter in a public place we are to ‘run away’ and ‘hide’” union leader Brandon Judd wrote on the website of 3,300-member union local. “If we are cornered by such a shooter we are to only as a last resort become ‘aggressive’ and ‘throw things’ at him or her. We are then advised to ‘call law enforcement’ and wait for their arrival presumably, while more innocent victims are slaughtered.”The FEMA-administered computer course, entitled “IS-907- Active Shooter: What You Can Do,” is a 45-minute tutorial that provides guidance to all employees on how to recognize indicators of possible workplace violence and what to do should their office be invaded by gunmen and focuses around three main options; either evacuate, hide out, or in dire circumstances, take action.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker beat back a recall challenge Tuesday, winning both the right to finish his term and a voter endorsement of his strategy to curb state spending, which included the explosive measure that eliminated union rights for most public workers.
The rising Republican star becomes the first governor in U.S. history to survive a recall attempt with his defeat of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and the union leaders who rallied for months against his agenda.
Mr. Walker had 58% of the vote with 62% of the state’s precincts reporting, while his opponent, Tom Barrett, the Democratic mayor of Milwaukee, had 42%. Turnout was said to be heavy.
The vote capped a contentious 15-month battle that polarized Wisconsin, long a centrist state, with union members and Democrats protesting angrily against Mr. Walker’s signing in March 2011 of a law removing most collective-bargaining rights from public employees.
Despite a last-minute smear campaign accusing Scott Walker of fathering an illegitimate love child, the governor’s recall election victory sends a clear message that should resonate around the nation: The fiscal cancer devouring state budgets has a cure, and he has found it. The costly defeat for the entrenched union interests that tried to oust Walker in retribution for challenging their power was marked by President Obama’s refusal to lend his weight to the campaign for fear of being stained by defeat. We’ll see how well this strategy of opportunistic detachment serves in the fall as Obama reaches out to unions for support.
This fight is not without precedent. Progressive patron saint Franklin Delano Roosevelt—who more than any other president set our country on a course away from the founding principles of limited government—knew that public sector unions would be the death of the social welfare state he worked so hard to create. Hence, he consistently opposed allowing government employees to unionize. Today, Greece sets the example of what happens when public sector unions gain the upper hand.
As it should be. The looting public sector unions know what they can do with themselves. The people of Wisconsin and all those Americans who helped Walker through donations, volunteering, ect. can pat themselves on the back. This is a huge victory for Wisconsin, a victory for the nation, and nice slap in Barry’s face. Public sector employees work for the citizens of the state and not the other way around. Walker took reasonable measures to curtail the looting and the babies cried and cried. Well, they’ll by drowning in their own tears tonight while I celebrate. Thanks Wisconsin and thank you Scott Walker! Now the liberal media has a wonderfully bitter pill to swallow.
“We’ve got to get the gun out of the hands of people who are supposed to be on neighborhood watch,” said Mr. Cosby, whose remarks were the first he has made publicly about the case.
“Without a gun, I don’t see Mr. Zimmerman approaching Trayvon by himself,” Mr. Cosby explained. “The power-of-the-gun mentality had him unafraid to confront someone. Even police call for backup in similar situations.
“When you carry a gun, you mean to harm somebody, kill somebody,” he said.
An award-winning actor and great American humorist, Mr. Cosby, 74, is best know for the ground-breaking NBC sit-com “The Cosby Show,” stand-up routines and recorded performances, all of which are infused with familial humor.
Bill Cosby probably means well. His son was murdered and the killer used a gun. Nevertheless, Bill would like to take our guns away from us because he believes that those who carry firearms intent to harm somebody. I’m sure that is the case with some who carry pistol, but that can hardly define the vast majority. Mr. Cosby could use the same kind of logic with cars and swimming pools because both those man-made products do their fair share of killing as well. Automobiles certainly kill more people than guns, but Mr. Cosby doesn’t link the same kind of logic that he used for the Martin case. He’s just shooting his mouth off about a case that has received a ludicrous amount of attention due to the race baiting.
‘Forced to stand for 24 hours, suicide nets, toxin exposure and explosions’: Inside the Chinese factories making iPads for Apple ‘Working excessive overtime without a single day off during the week’ ‘Living together in crowded dorms and exposure to dangerous chemicals’ Two explosions in 2011 in China ‘due to aluminum dust’ killed four workers Almost 140 injured after using toxin in factory, reports New York Times.
China is probably 100 years behind the U.S. regarding industrial safety and worker’s rights. Apple still charges a hefty price for its products while they benefit from the slave labor in the People’s Republic of China. The media is probably too busy harping on Rush Limbaugh or some other innocuous non-story.
